Providing you have a child old enough to sleep on the top bunk, is your child able then to climb the ladder to the top bunk? Bunk bed ladders have their own kind of feeling when climbing up and climbing down. Check out ladders in furniture stores first if you are considering a bunk bed purchase, and if your child does not feel comfortable with the feel of the ladders, put more consideration into a trundle bed or other bedding option.
During the "baby stage", the most important consideration is the safety of the baby. Bassinets and cradles make an excellent first bed but these can only be used for a couple months. The baby will feel secure but will outgrow them quickly. A port-a-crib is another excellent option for the baby years. These cribs can go anywhere you go making it easy to have the baby with you.
Children have a tendency to grow. Quickly. Will the perfect bed today still be able to fit a gangly preteen or strapping teenager? Many bunk beds offer full bunk bed designs as well as twins. By choosing a full-sized mattress, the bunk bed has a much greater chance of lasting through childhood. Bunk beds also come in different heights. As long as a bedroom's ceilings can accommodate it, buying the higher bunk bed will allow adults and teenagers to sit comfortably on the bottom bunk.
Wall beds, also known as Murphy wall beds are cut into a wall and are able to fold up into the wall when not in use. These beds can range from double sized beds to full king sized beds. There really is no limit to the size of bed you are able to have installed into a wall, although the wall does need to be thick enough to have a section of it removed, otherwise it is not possible to have the bed folded up into it.
